NEW DELHI: A gang of three cheats was busted by the
Delhi Police from Munirka on Friday. The gang under the banner of different travel agencies, used to get in touch with people with the help of ``Just Dial'' telephone service. And book confirmed airline tickets for people wanting to travel to foreign destinations, after depositing the cancellation amount i.e 10%.
They would then cancel the tickets after conning the customers of the full amount of the ticket.
``We set up a special task team after receiving a complaint from one Anubha Rathi, who was duped of a sum of Rs 55,500 by the gang. She got in touch with these people through the same service,'' said DCP (south) H G S Dhaliwal.
Following the clue, the police also left an enquiry at the Just Dial services and received a call from these people under the banner of Aryan Travels. ``The accused were caught red-handed when they met the police officers to hand over two return tickets to Sydney worth Rs 78,000,'' said a police officer.
The accused have been identified as Arun Kumar (45), Akram Ali, (28) and Momin (27). ``It is revealed that by adopting the same modus-operandi, they had cheated several innocent people residing in the areas like Krishna Nagar, Patel Nagar, Keshav Puram and Noida,'' added the DCP.
